The Alliant Energy Fifth Season Youth Mile Run is an exclusive competitive run for kids ages 9-14.  The youth mile run is underwritten by the RPC Charitable Foundation of Iowa City.  All kids will be timed and receive a mile medal for finishing.  

START

The start is at Mays Island, 3rd Avenue Bridge.  Start time is 9 a.m. 

COURSE

The course takes runners and walkers through downtown Cedar Rapids.  
The course features straight out on 3rd Avenue with a left turn on 8th Street.
Runners and walkers then turn left on 2nd Avenue to a straight-away downhill finish near the Alliant Energy Tower.

ENTRY FEE

Entry fee is $12-$15 depending on date of entry.   
$12 entry fee if postmarked by or on June 29. 
$12 entry fee if register online through noon on July 2. 
Late registration is $15 at packet pickup on July 3. 
Race day registration is $15 at packet pickup and will close at 7 a.m.

PACKET PICKUP

Fifth Season Expo – Registration and Packet Pickup will be held at the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel, 350 1st Avenue NE, on July 3 from Noon to 7 p.m., and on July 4th from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.   Shirts and numbers for all entrants can be picked up at these times.   Merchandise vendors will be on site.  Packet pickup will close at 8 a.m. Youth Mile Run participants sign up at packet pickup for the random prize drawings.   The drawing for gift certificates for bikes will occur at the start of the youth mile run.

ELECTRONIC CHIP TIMING

All runners in the Youth Mile will be provided a chip which must be affixed to your shoe and returned after you finish.  You will be timed according to gun time.  Failure to wear or return your chip will result in disqualification.  There is a $10 charge for chips not returned.

SHIRT

Participants receive a commemorative youth race shirt, worth wearing all summer.

POST-RACE PARTY

After the race, let the fun begin at our post-race party!!   Enjoy plenty of food, drink, music and family fun along 1st Street SE near the Alliant Energy Tower, along the 2nd Avenue Bridge overlooking the Cedar River, and Green Square Park.

AWARDS CEREMONY

Our fabulous Fifth Season awards ceremony begins outside in front of the Alliant Energy Tower at 10:30 a.m.  Rain site is Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel.  
Trophies for boys and girls age divisions in the youth mile race are as follows:  
9-10 (top 5), 11-12 (top 5), 13-14 (top 5).

A parade just for kids! No need to register. 
Just line up on Mays Island, 3rd Avenue Bridge and let the good times roll up to 3rd St SE and over to 2nd Avenue for a big finish on the 2nd Avenue bridge.
