Why all the changes for 2011 (new course, packet pickup and post race party location, etc)?

With the permanent closing of 2nd Ave. in downtown Cedar Rapids for the new Medical District, the temporary closing of the Crowne Plaza Hotel for major renovations, and the construction on the U.S. Cellular center, the CVRA 5th Season Races needed to move from its traditional location in downtown Cedar Rapids. The start, finish and race course location near The Chrome Horse Saloon was picked after an extensive search and consideration.

Is there an age restriction to run?

There are no age restrictions on the Alliant Energy 8K Race or the Fifth Season 5K Fun Run/Walk. The divisions in 8K/5K this year are 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.

Age division awards are medals in the 8K Run.  The 5K run/walk is a noncompetitive event with no age division awards.

The divisions in the Kids’ Fun Runs are 6-10, and 5 & under. The Kids’ Fun Run is a noncompetitive event with no age division awards.
