The 25^th Annual Alliant Energy Fifth Season 8K is THE Fourth of July event for competitive road racing in the Midwest.   The race is a certified USA Track & Field 8K Run.  The RACE is on July 4^th celebrating 25 years!!

START

The start is at Mays Island, 3^rd Avenue Bridge.  Start time is 7:30 a.m. 

COURSE

The scenic and rolling course takes runners through historic neighborhoods of southeast Cedar Rapids.   The course features an out-and-back segment on Blake Boulevard and Grande Avenue allowing runners to view the lead runners as they make their way past the Bever Park turnaround point.  Runners then wind their way back downtown on 2^nd Avenue to a straight-away downhill finish near the Alliant Energy Tower.   Enjoy the course entertainment. 

ENTRY FEE

Entry fee is $25-$35 depending on date of entry.   
$25 entry fee if postmarked by or on June 22. 
$25 entry fee if register online by or on June 25. 
$30 entry fee if postmarked by or on June 29. 
CVRA member discount $2 by or on June 25.
After June 25, the online entry fee is $30 through noon on July 2.  
Late registration is $35 at packet pickup on July 3. 
No race day registration. Packet pickup only race day.
No refunds or transferring of race number.

PACKET PICKUP

Fifth Season Expo – Registration and Packet Pickup will be held at the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel, 350 1^st Avenue NE, on July 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and packet pickup only on July 4^th from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.   Shirts and numbers for all entrants can be picked up at these times.   Merchandise vendors will be on site. 
Packet pickup will close at 8 a.m.

ELECTRONIC CHIP TIMING

All runners in the 8K will be provided a chip which must be affixed to your shoe and returned after you finish.  You will be timed according to gun time.  Failure to wear or return your chip will result in disqualification.  There is a $10 charge for chips not returned.  Refer to the back side of chip for mailing address if chip not returned after finish.

SHIRT

Participants receive a commemorative Brooks brand moisture management race shirt, worth wearing all summer.

POST-RACE PARTIES

After the race, let the fun begin at our post-race parties!!   Enjoy plenty of food, drink, music and family fun along 1^st Street SE near the Alliant Energy Tower and along the 2^nd Avenue Bridge overlooking the Cedar River.  Complimentary massages are available. 

Rock the Ramp!! Adults (free of charge for registered entrants, sponsors and volunteers age 21+ only) enjoy the hospitality of the Cedar Rapids Jaycees, live music provided by the O'Connell Brothers Band, and refreshments provided by Fleck Sales-Miller Lite at the United Fire Group - Top of the Parking Ramp. Finishers must show their race number and be prepared to show a photo ID to receive alcohol.

AWARDS CEREMONY

Our fabulous Fifth Season awards ceremony begins in Ballroom I & II of the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel at 10:30 a.m. Money winners and first place age division winners in the 8k race and all age division winners in the youth mile will be announced to the crowd, please be present to receive your award and for pictures. Other age division winners can receive their awards at the hotel ballroom on race day from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Awards can also be picked up at Running Wild-Cedar Rapids at a later date.
